Universities have long been regarded as centers of theoretical knowledge production in the sense of scientific knowledge. It is certainly true that both the production and teaching of this knowledge are the main responsibilities of the university. However, another fundamental task of universities is to put this knowledge into practice. Therefore, universities are expected to respond to the needs of society in many aspects such as social, cultural, political, economic and environmental. In other words, universities are pioneering institutions that change lives. We are organizing an international conference to discuss these essential missions of universities in general and more specifically in the context of Estonian universities in Tallinn, Estonia. Estonian universities, with their focus on quality, innovation, internationalization and digitalization, attract international students from many different countries with over 150 degrees in English. We will both get to know Estonian higher education and discuss in detail the life-changing missions of universities through various topics. In the two-part conference, a webinar in January 2025 and a hybrid conference in November 2025, experts from different universities, institutions, and companies around the world will have the opportunity to share their ideas on the subject. The conference will be organized with the cooperation of Mtü Haridus Akadeemia Karjäär, T-network, Fortator OÜ (expoNomic) and Tallinn City Government.
